If you love the handmade, fresh, melt-in-your-mouth goodness of an Amon’s Sugar Shack glazed donut for breakfast, we have good news for you.
And if you’ve never had one? Pay attention.
Starting Saturday, May 23, the historic Somerset bakery will offer hot, fresh donuts from 5 p.m. to close Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays every weekend this summer.
“Our glazed donuts are such a daily favorite that we thought, why not make customers a warm batch for dessert to enjoy on warm, summer nights?” said Amon’s manager Doug Stephens.
So whether you’re headed out to Highway 27 for the Somernites Cruise Car Show or you’re just craving a fresh donut, stop by Amon’s Sugar Shack this weekend (and every weekend this summer) for a treat. Glazed donuts are 65 cents each or $6.49 for a dozen.
Amon’s Sugar Shack, located at 1900 South Highway 27 at light 13, opened in Somerset in 1951 when founder Amon Stephens gave the bakery to his wife, Rosemary, as a wedding gift. The Stephens family has operated the bakery and deli since. Amon’s is known for its donuts, pastries, cakes and café-style meals, and has been featured as a favorite in Southern Living magazine.
