Job Description:
The Business Liaison will serve as the primary point of contact between the Chamber of Commerce and local businesses. This role is designed to help foster strong relationships with members, connect businesses to Chamber resources, and promote the overall success of the business community. The Business Liaison will play a vital role in outreach, communication, and providing support to local businesses while enhancing the Chamber’s mission of promoting growth and prosperity in the Lake Cumberland Region.
Major Tasks:
Membership Recruitment & Retention, Business Development, Success in Business, Ambassadors, Business Interchange Work Hours: Full time, includes regular hours at the Chamber office and extra hours during special events; typical work week will be 40 hours
Key Responsibilities:
- Visit with businesses to develop relationships with the owners and find ways of how we can better work with them to improve their business.
- Build strong relationships and assist key business groups within the community.
- Conduct research and identify ways of improving services and projects to local businesses.
- Maintain ongoing communications with Chamber member businesses and regular onsite visits.
- Maintain, promote and post on multiple social media channels daily.
- Keep a detailed report off all calls, visits, and prospects
Membership Recruitment:
- Recruitment of new members to the organization by identifying individuals, companies or industry sectors that are not currently members; cultivating relationships; and converting those prospects into dues-paying members.
- Process all new member applications with assistance from Member Services Coordinator.
* Provide appropriate follow-up to new members to ensure they are aware of the Chamber’s membership offerings and opportunities.
* Coordinate the welcome letter and processing of all New Member Packets and emails to communicate use of online services and database login. - Handle and respond to all membership inquiries.
- Provide membership information, send appropriate follow-up communication and close sales.
Membership Retention:
- Managing retention efforts of existing members by ensuring that current members have opportunities for engagement, are communicated with on a regular basis and are receiving value for their membership dues.
- Supervise retention program for first year members, as well as all retention efforts.
- Establish goals for renewals in conjunction with annual budgeting.
- Assist in the staffing of the Chamber office during regular, consistent office hours.
- Manage daily administrative office operations.
- Maintain the office so that it presents a positive image for the Chamber.
- Respond to inquiries made in-person or by phone, e-mail or standard mail , in a friendly, informative manner.
- Assist with Chamber sponsored programs, seminars, workshops, special projects, and events.
- All other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director.
Requirements:
- Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. The successful candidate will be in contact with area businesses, citizens, visitors and city administrators and personnel.
- Requires job enthusiasm and a desire to help reach the Chamber’s goals.
- Outgoing personality …. I need a people person for this position.
- Extreme attention to detail.
- Requires excellent computer skills, ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and other programs.
- Strong knowledge of multiple social media channels.
- Ability to create promotional content for members whether that be on Microsoft word, Canva, or any content creation sites.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with e-mail.
- Ability to work with a variety of people.
- Ability to manage and work on multiple projects at one time.
Salary:
A very competitive salary will be offered for this position based on the past work experience of people applying for the position.
