DESCRIPTION:  \nThe Center for Rural Development has been chosen by the Kentucky Humanities to host “Voices and Votes”\, a Smithsonian Traveling Exhibit\, as part of the Museum on Main Street program—a national/state/local partnership to bring exhibitions and programs to rural cultural organizations. The exhibition examines the nearly 250-year-old American experiment of a government “of\, by and for the people\,” and how each generation since continues to question how to form “a more perfect union.” The Center is honored to host this traveling art exhibit from June 19-July 24\, 2021 –Stop by The Center and view the exhibit from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and during extended evening and weekend hours when the building is open to the general public. Shortly afterward\, a young woman\, Jennet\, is brought before the Mayor for witchcraft\, but for some strange reason she has no wish to be put to death! The park will be filled with the sights\, sounds and tastes of summer — local and regional art vendors will fill tents with their wares while market-goers enjoy the instrumental sounds of the Somerset Big Band\, violinist Lucy McArthur and drum soloist Bradley Shane Gilmore. We’ll also host an online auction for pieces created during our Foodstock and Juneteenth festivals\, and these works will be on display during the event. Proceeds from the auction will go to our #seemyset Art Fund\, which supports art initiatives in the city. Food trucks will also be on-site throughout the evening. This free\, family-friendly event will be held rain or shine\, so mark your calendars now to join us at Rocky Hollow Park on Aug. 14.
