Formerly known as The Carnegie Community Arts Center, The Cooper Community Arts Center has remained a valuable cultural resource for Somerset and the surrounding Lake Cumberland region, for generations after Andrew Carnegie’s original philanthropic investment in our community.

On any given day, visitors will see children and adults carrying art supplies, musical instruments and much more walking into the Cooper to create, perform and inspire others. From a team of experienced professionals, the Lake Cumberland area has been given the opportunity to learn more about music and how to write and compose, more about performing from stellar vocal instruction to violin and guitar performance, more about the rudiments of drawing and painting, and more about theater and acting.

Also on any given day, small groups and large groups alike use the facility for reunions, wedding receptions, corporate luncheons and more. The remodeled downstairs with its Bistro and Grande Piazza lend a unique, Old World atmosphere that makes the Cooper’s lower level a truly one-of-a-kind place in Somerset, Kentucky. This area also can be rented for private parties and receptions.

The Cooper is also committed to showcasing fine art, by scheduling several exhibits each year.
