You’re cordially invited to attend our upcoming Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon on Tuesday, May 1st.
We have a very special program we will be hosting.
Kentucky Chautaqua Presents, Adolph Rupp: The Coach
During the 42 years he coached at the University of Kentucky, Adolph Rupp (1901-1977) raised basketball to near-religious status in the Commonwealth. Basketball took its place next to horses, coal and bourbon as one of the cultural icons that characterizes the state. Rupp’s teams won 880 games, four national championships and one Olympic gold medal.
Edward Smith portrays Adolph Rupp for Kentucky Chautauqua. A Kentucky native, Smith earned a bachelor of arts degree from Georgetown College, a master of arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin, all in performance studies. Smith is co-director of the Kentucky Educational Speech and Drama Association and a member of the Kentucky Film Lab’s Advisory Board. He teaches theatre and film classes at Georgetown College, where he is an associate professor.
Lunch will be held at The Center for Rural Development and will begin at 12:00 (Noon).
Please make your plans to attend this very interesting luncheon.
